Albuquerque International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta

Have you heard of Hot Air Balloon Fiesta?

In October of 2007, I flew to Albuquerque, New Mexico with my aunt(paternal side)for vacation. Luckily, when I was there they were celebrating the International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.

On the day of the event we drove to a nearby mall at around 4:00AM and took the "Park and Ride Shuttle Service" to the site. The travel time took more than an hour. I remember it to be freezing cold. I layered four jackets to overcome it. When we got to the site, there were a lot of people already. Food stalls and shops all around. One of the shops was AT&T and they were selling iPhones. Ha! I bought my iPhone here. Why in ABQ? Because tax here is lower than in New York City.

Participants from all over the world are getting ready

Look at all the balloons

It comes in all shapes and sizes

There's even a titanic hot air balloon burried in the ground

Shouldn't miss the chance to strike a pose. :)

The Hot Air Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque is an annual attraction that spans for more than three decades (and counting). If you plan to visit Albuquerque in October and would want to witness this fun event, do visit their website at http://www.balloonfiesta.com.

you know what, primo? my parents were all set to experience this famous attraction in Albuquerque last October 2009. In fact, they already had hotel reservations for October 5 but unfortunately they never made it. They cancelled last minute because Mom complained of pain in her back (which i strongly suspect was made up). I think she's a little afraid to go up in a balloon. Manol si lola mo!! Hehe...Regards!
